Niche Affiliate Marketing

Niche Affiliate Marketing

When starting up an affiliate marketing program, finding a product or products to market is the biggest problem facing a new business. There are basically two different types of programs, mainstream and niche programs.

The Mainstream types require a mass marketing program, a background in marketing, financial investment to get a large program off the ground and the time to run it successfully. Mainstream programs usually need a large site, with 50-100 different types of products. Unless you can build your own site and know how to maintain it, you will be spending a lot of overhead for someone else to setup and run your site.

Niche marketing is much easier, just finding what you want to market is the key to success. As with most business owners, find something you have a passion about. This will make it more fun than work when it comes to affiliate marketing and promoting. An example of an easy niche site is games. Millions of people play on-line games, there is plenty of affiliate programs available and most have their own affiliate marketing available to you through their site. With games you have hundreds, if not thousands of products available to market. Games can also drive traffic to your site, and if you offer small rewards for high scores, you can keep traffic on the site too.

While the affiliate marketing sector has grown tremendously, most affiliate marketing businesses are professionally run using the mainstream programs, and as such have wide spread out products or services base. This creates the niche marketing for the small business owner by allowing them to focus on a certain type of product line, or niche. If your looking to go big time, start with a niche program, learn from the ground up on how and what works for your business.

Create the cash flow you will need to move up, but keep with your smaller niche program at all times. With a backup plan in place, this will alleviate the stress of trying to go up by mass marketing.

Keep in mind the need to market and promote your site. There are many ways to drive traffic to your site, so try different techniques to find what works best for your business. Finding websites that attract the same customers, but have a different product, are a good source of promoting. Generally placing a banner of theirs on your site and in return they do the same for you, creates traffic for both, thus creating a business network for both to share, at little or no cost.
